When creating a quote, it is sometimes valuable to seed the line items table in the quote with an initial set of products. The quote then already starts with a selected list of products making it easier to add "default products" to all quotes. You can specify a list of initial products in a quote template. Newly created quotes will have those products.
In Edit Quote Template, under the Configuration tab, there is a table named Initial Products. In this table, in each row you can select a line-item table, a product, and a quantity.
In the above example, two products are added to the Initial Products selection.
When a user creates a new quote, all products from this Initial Products table will be added to the new quote in the specified line-item table with the specified quantity.
So, in the example above, 3 units (Quantity = 3) of Apple Macbook Pro 13" and 1 unit of Adobe Photoshop will be added to the "line items" table, for all newly created quotes that use this "quote template".
This feature lets you "pre-fill" a quote with a specific list of products, with specific quantities, added to specific line items tables.
Note:
Configurable products cannot be added as "initial products" in a quote, mainly because they require a product-ui-layout to configure which requires human interaction.
