The Products page List View lists all of the available products for your Mobileforce CPQ application in tabular format.
Note
By default the Products page only displays active products. To view inactive products, ensure that the Show inactive checkbox is selected.
From this page, the Mobileforce CPQ application allows you to do the following:
- Add a new product
- Edit an existing product
- Make a copy of an existing product
- Import and export products
- Filter and search the list of products by name and by category
Navigating the page
You can navigate the products page to locate the products you want to manage.
- Click any column to sort the table by the column in alpha-numeric order. Click the column a second time to sort by the column in reverse alpha-numeric order.
- By default, the Products page displays 10 entries. To view more entries on a single page, click the Show dropdown and select the desired number of entries ( 10, 25, 50, or All)
- At the bottom of the table you can use the navigation buttons to view other pages of the table.
Activating and deactivating products
Products can be active (i.e.. available to add to a quote) or inactive (i.e.. not available to add to a quote). Products can be activated and deactivated from the Products page.
When a product is deactivated, you can no longer add it to a quote.
- To deactivate individual products, click the icon for the product.
- To deactivate multiple products, select the checkbox for the products and click the Deactivate button.
By default the Products page only displays active products. To view inactive products, ensure that the Show inactive checkbox is selected.
Note:
To reactivate a product, click the icon for the category, or select the checkbox for the products and click the Activate button.
Making products inactive is extremely important when products are updated (price updates) or even replaced. A scenario in which an existing quote has a line item representing a product that needs to be modified has the following implications.
Note:
If a product price is updated, then the quote will also reflect the updated product price. This means that any updates to products impact all the quotes that use the products. If you don't want this behavior, you can make the product inactive.
Making the product inactive will have no impact on existing quotes. They will still show the product with the old price.
Be careful when deleting products.
Note:
If a product is deleted, then the quote in which the product is included will show errors when opened. This is why it is a bad idea to delete products that have already been included in quotes. Instead, you can either make the product inactive (so it won't be available for future quotes). Alternatively you can change effective date of such products to a future date, so that the new price changes won’t show for existing quotes.
The same is also true for product categories.
Adding and removing categories
Every product is classified as belonging to a category.
From the products page, you can change the category information for multiple products simultaneously.
Select the checkbox for the products you want to modify, and then do one of the following:
- Click the Add To Category button to add the products to a category.
- Click the Remove From Category button to remove the product(s) from a category.
From the pop-up, click the Category drop-down list, select the desired category from the list, and click Add To Category or Remove From Category, as applicable.
Deleting Products
If needed, you can delete products individually or delete multiple products simultaneously.
- To delete a single product, click its delete icon () from the Actions column.
- To delete multiple products, ensure that the desired checkboxes are selected and click the Delete button.
